Love in the Time of Coronavirus | Shelby & Ben's Micro Wedding in Slidell, Louisiana
When Shelby reached out to me about capturing a last minute elopement for her and her fiancé, Ben, I sat at the edge of my seat in excitement. We were weeks into a shelter in place order and I was itching to get those creative juices flowing again. Shelby and Ben were unable to fly home to Virginia for their May 15th wedding as originally planned so on that date they wed in an intimate ceremony here in Louisiana instead.
It was simple, beautiful, romantic and emotions were high. Shelby’s father flew in last minute and literally arrived from the airport minutes before the ceremony started, bags in hand. The signs of Coronavirus were ever present as the officiant wore a mask, a computer was set up to live stream and social distancing was on everyone’s minds. But you know what? Even with so many limitations in place, love came first.
Shelby and Ben got married in a dreamy courtyard, tears were shed and then we celebrated with a walk around the block taking photos to remember the day. We laughed so much and I dare say forgot all about the large wedding that was supposed to happen. These two will celebrate with all of their family and friends later when the world is a safer place, but for now, they’re married and living happily ever after.
