New Orleans Wedding Venue Spotlight | The Tree of Life, Audubon Park
The first installment of my new series ‘New Orleans Wedding Spotlight’ is here and has to feature a location I have spent countless hours witnessing and photographing dozens of weddings and elopements. The Tree of Life in Audubon Park is an incredible live oak tree with sprawling limbs dripping with Spanish Moss.
Officially called the ‘Etienne de Boray Oak’, named after the first mayor of New Orleans who brought sugar cane to the area, The Tree of Life is anywhere from 100-500 years old and a hidden gem that is much loved by the locals. It also happens to be a beloved location for wedding ceremonies; the canopy making a dramatic and romantic backdrop for couples and their guests.
My favorite part of this special location is two fold. First, I deeply appreciate how it looks different every time I visit; with the time of day, weather and sunlight ever changing and providing a different experience for each and every ceremony. Second, I love how the Tree backs up to Audubon Zoo. On rare occasion you can see giraffes peeking over the fence or hear lions roaring almost too close for comfort.
